This family portrait session is one that has been in the works since December! When this family's oldest child, Shannon, contacted me about giving a family portrait session to her parents as a Christmas gift, I was so excited to work with her on the surprise. You may recognize Shannon's brother, Conor, and his fiance, Hannah, from a previous engagement session that I shot. Originally, we did not plan to hold the engagement and family session 24 hours apart from each other, but that's just how it worked out so it was a fun weekend for me with this family!
We held this family session on the Saturday of WVU graduation weekend when everyone was in town. This was one of my bigger family sessions so while it posed some new challenges, I am very happy with how the images turned out and look forward to doing more large families and extended family sessions in the future! Also, can we talk about how amazing their blue and gold outfits turned out? As a WVU grad myself I was loving these wardrobe choices. :)
We worked to get full group shots, couples shots, siblings, ladies, etc. during this session. We also got a few fun ones of the graduating couple, including a reenactment of Conor's famous dip pose from the day before ;). The entire time we were racing against the clock to beat a huge storm, and were lucky that we were finishing up under a covered porch right as it started to rain. I am so glad that we were able to get this session in despite the iffy weather. Below are a few of my favorite images from the session. Thanks again to Shannon for arranging this session to surprise her family!
