Today I'm sharing a somewhat personal post. A couple of weeks ago I took a Saturday off from client work to shoot a family event, my little brother's senior prom! Though I love shooting sessions for my clients, there's nothing like shooting all day with your family. I love capturing family memories, especially those of my own family. Some may have said I went overboard, but I not only captured my brother, but my entire family interacting throughout the day. Some of the photos I took have already become treasured family heirlooms for me and I am planning to make an album from this day for my family to share. These photos are worthy of more than just living on my hard drive, blog, and Facebook page.
We started out with some individual shots of Shannon, then moved onto family shots, and finally shots of him with his date, Kara. They made a gorgeous couple! I also tagged along to the location where they were meeting up with some of their friends and took some fun group shots, as well as the last photo that you'll see in this post.
Hey look, it's me! ;) And don't you love how we're both sporting the same forced smile, haha! This is one reason that it's important for the photographer to relax their subjects and interact with them to get natural smiles... maybe this is the next lesson I will teach my little sister who I usually put behind the camera (and shout out to her because she has gotten pretty good at nailing focus once I get it set up for her!).
